:
Arrangements
for a
colorful
demonstration
as
Nashville’s
observance
of
Army
Day
are
being
worked
out
under
a
committee
headed
by
Walter
Stokes
,
Jr.
,
which
provides
for an
elaborate
parade
Monday
at
2
o’clock
in
which
some
1,500
Camp
Forrest
troops
will
participate
. The
parade
will
form
at
Eighth
Avenue
and
Broadway
at
1:30
o’clock
, and
units
will
march
in the
following
order
:
Marshal
Herbert
Corson
with
police
escort
of
25
county
,
city
, and
state
motorcycle
officers
;
Camp
Forrest
band
followed
by
1,200
marching
infantrymen
and a
motorized
detachment
of
300
members
;
Drum
and
Bugle
Corps
of the
Sons
of the
American
Legion
;
detail
from the
United
States
Navy
Recruiting
Station
;
200
uniformed
members
of the
American
Red
Cross
,
Post
5
American
Legion
members
and
Post
6
(Negro)
American
Legion
;
Spanish-American
War
Veterans
;
Tennessee
State
Guard
band
and
troops
;
Drum
and
Bugle
Corps
of the
ROTC
and
marching
units
of that
organization
.
Route
of the
parade
will be
north
on
Eighth
Avenue
to
Church
Street
;
east
on
Church
to
Fifth
Avenue
,
north
on
Fifth
to
Cedar
Street
,
west
on
Cedar
to
Capitol
Boulevard
,
where
it
will
pass
in
review
before
Gov
.
Prentice
Cooper
,
thence
to
Eighth
Avenue
and
Union
Street
,
where
the
parade
will
disband
.
Soldiers
Arrive
Sunday
:
Soldiers
from
Camp
Forrest
will
arrive
at the
Nashville
city
limits
Sunday
morning
at
9:30
o’clock
and will be
met
by
Police
Lt
.
Emmett
Franklin
. The
troops
will be
escorted
to the
State
Fair
Grounds.”
