Description	Nashville Mayor Briley is pictured with a mother and daughter, as they are presented with the Poppy Day Proclamation, on May 27th, 1965. The bright red Poppy flower is a symbol of the sacrifice of lives in war and represents the hope that none had died in vain. Poppy Day is a commemorative program of the American Legion Auxiliary to commemorate the armistice that ended World War I and to honor all soldiers.
